I don't know why it's taken me so long to figure this out, but I've finally come to the realization that having an (almost) 18 month old is exhausting. Abby is going through a very trying stage right now. The stage where kicking, crying, throwing self on the floor antics are happening. It's not fun for me... not fun for her. Although Abby has a handful of words, she is becoming frustrated quite easily when trying to tell us something. She wants to talk so badly. Hopefully her words will come quick and maybe communication will be easier. Or maybe we'll just be adding talking back to the antics previously mentioned. I sure hope not. Abby is such a sweet girl too, always loving on her friends and family and making us laugh and smile. all. day. long.
Abby is also a mover and one active child. She doesn't sit still for very long and she goes from toy to toy. This makes car rides, stroller rides, and trips in the cart at Target very interesting. Does this child want to sit still? Maybe for five minutes. Five minutes is usually all I get. At least when Abby naps and sleeps at night, she crashes and she crashes hard.
My BFF told me before that with every age brings a whole new set of challenges. She was so right and I remind myself of that everyday. These challenges are going to come and go so quick, bringing new ones my way. Childhood won't last forever so I'm going to soak up the good with the bad, because with every tantrum over a rentable race car stroller at the mall, there are the dances Abby and I share to Zac Brown Band. (our favorite) I wouldn't trade these memories for anything - I just need to keep praying for more patience. :)

Liz, just keep in mind what a good girl you have. Everything that you're / she's going through is very normal, she's learning every step of the way. You and Jim are such good parents and it shows by how you handle every new experience with Abby. She's a very luck little girl.
Thank you Sue! I hope this post didn't come off as complaining... just expressing some frustration. I am enjoying EVERY minute of her! As much as she's learning every step of the way, so are Jim and me...
It is very exhausting. We went to a Super Bowl party last night in hopes of getting to know some other couples in our small group class. Didn't happen. Their house wasn't baby proofed so I was chasing Rylie all night. We both crashed when we got home. I'm excited for Spring and to be outside a lot more :)
I'm right there with you Liz! And so glad to hear that Jonah is not the only one that is super busy and getting easily frustrated at this age....but we both have beautiful, sweet, adorably affectionate toddlers and like you, I'm loving every minute of it, even though it's exhausting :) !!!
Thank you for having us this weekend...we had so much fun! I need to get all those pictures from you! :)
To me, this is the hardest age. We are going through the same stuff with Bryce...he knows what he wants, but can't express himself with words, so he gets frustrated and throws tantrums. Trust me, once you get past this stage, it gets soooo much easier. At least for me it did. Of course it is easier for me to deal with Bryce because I know what is going on and I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but with Rylie, I was exhausted like you are. I'm sure it is harder being home all day too. Hang in there, my friend. It won't be much longer!
Hang in there Liz! Abby is such a sweet girl so you know what you are doing is right. Yes- the terrible two's are approaching, but you will make it through with flying colors! When all else fails, blast your music a little bit louder and drown out the insanity for a minute! LOL
