Family time :)

It was so nice to have family in town for the Thanksgiving holiday. Uncle Chris had been to our house once before, but it was a first for Aunt Melinda, Caroline, and Savannah. They were all excited to meet Abigail for the first time. The girls were probably more excited to meet Max at first (and rightly so), but eventually realized the baby was here too! :) We had a ton of fun at the park at Marina Jack, putt putt golf, shopping, movies, fancy dinner, and of course Thanksgiving Day was wonderful. Having family around for the holidays makes it even more special! :)
Savannah can fit in Abby's Bumbo seat!

Caroline being silly in Max's bed.... she loved the window! :)

Baby Abby - 3 months old and growing so fast!

Savannah and those beautiful blue eyes!

So cute .... Caroline loved holding Baby Abby!

Aunt Melinda & Abby ... so happy!

Savannah loving her cousin ...

This picture should be entered into a funny photo contest. Seriously. I look pregnant, fat, and like I'm sticking my butt out for the whole world to see. If you look closely, Melinda's right behind me, so that would be her butt.... her shirt and hair even blend in to make it look like it's ALL ME!!! Jen - I love my apron! :)

Happy First Thanksgiving Baby Abigail!

Yesterday we celebrated Thanksgiving with family and friends at our home. Chris, Melinda, Caroline, and Savannah made the trip from Tennessee to spend Thanksgiving with us and Chris, Carol, Camdyn, and Chloe came on over to help celebrate such a special day! I was kind of nervous with how the dinner would come about (with cooking and entertaining Abby), but EVERYONE helped prepare the food, dinner was on time, and the food was YUMMY!
Jim and I have so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. We are thankful to have such a beautiful, happy baby who can make us smile and laugh every day. We are thankful for such wonderful family, even though we can't be with all of them during these special times. We are thankful for such great friends that are able to make us feel at home when family can't be around.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone in the upcoming months. (so is Abby!!) Aunt Jenny is coming to visit in just a few weeks!! Nana and PopPop will be here just after Christmas and Gramma and Grandad will be coming in January. YAY!!!

Here are some pictures to highlight Abby's First Thanksgiving!!

Look at me, I'm 3 months old!

Today is Abby's 3 month birthday and what a day it has been! She definitely wanted to party and celebrate turning 3 months old.... not too much of a nap this morning, afternoon nap was a bit better, but in the end short naps equal cranky baby! It didn't help that I was toting her all over the place today... starting with a walk in the mall, then Christmas photos at Sears, and finally ending up at Carol's house to attempt a nap. (We had trees removed at our house so it was a bit noisy and unsafe with the crane ... but it looks GOOD!)
After enough torture for one day, we decided to go back on Friday to finish the pictures at Sears. Everything that could go wrong... DID! Abby cried, was hungry, was tired, pooped, pee went everywhere when changing her diaper.... you name it, it happened. I know we did get one good family shot though. That's all we really need. Maybe Friday will go a bit better... here's hoping!

Here are just a few photos from this week. I'm off to catch up on sleep. Wait... sleep?! Is there such a thing? Actually I really can't complain since we've been having good nights, but last night was a doozy!

Kind of a goofy picture, but it makes me laugh!

Abby likes playing in just her diaper before bathtime....

Tummy time .. reaching for her toys on the mat.

Still liking the bumbo seat ...

Good morning Abby!

What a perfect Sunday morning for the Johnson family! A little background first... Last night Abby was in her crib by 8:00, fell asleep on her own by about 8:15, and then slept until 4:45 this morning! I got up, fed her and she was back to sleep in an hour or just a little less. Then Jim and I heard her starting to wake up and fuss a little around 7:30. We made a deal that Sundays would be my day to sleep in, so Jim went in her room and gave her a binky, which she took and fell back asleep. At 9:00, I woke up thinking Abby would have already played for a bit and already been fed. Much to my surprise EVERYONE slept in until 9:00!!! (Jim on Abby's floor) Yay for a sleepy Sunday morning! :)

Here is a video that Jim took of Abby waking up this morning. I can't imagine anything better than this perfect way to start the day!
Okay, I've had a lot of comments about Abby's flat head in this video!!! I swear it's not flat, it's just bedhead!:)

Daddy's Photo Shoot

Tonight was a great night ... Abby's early bedtime led to a night of relaxation, the Country Music Awards, and Daddy's PhotoShop fun! (The only thing missing was one of Carol's cookies) Jim wanted no part of watching the CMA's, unlike me ... I was excited all week long! So instead of watching the awards, he sat next to me on the sofa using PhotoShop to recreate a picture of Abby. Now as I type, I've been sent upstairs to watch the remainder of the awards in our comfy bed! Take a look at Daddy's kind of photo shoot... it's a bit different than Mommy's! :) This picture just makes me laugh!
Abby - the next NASCAR driver?!

Soooo big!

Our little girl is getting so big!! Abby is becoming really good at hearing a sound and knowing where to look to find what is making that noise. She is definitely recognizing our voices and knows when Daddy or Mommy walk into a room. Abby isn't grabbing or reaching for toys just yet, but she loves to hold onto her cuddly blanket. The blanket was a gift from Aunt Jenny when Jim and I found out we were pregnant the first time. It was very ironic that I gave this blanket to Abby for the first time on the day that we knew we miscarried last year. I didn't even realize this, but Aunt Jenny pointed it out! So, it's become kind of sentimental for me. Everywhere we've gone lately, that blanket has gone with us! It's so cute to see her cuddle with it... she loves it. :)

Abby is starting to notice Max a little more each day. This morning Jim was walking past Max, holding Abby and her hand touched him. Jim said she was opening and closing her fist, very interested with this new texture! She is just loving her doggie now!

Mommy and Daddy are feeling a bit refreshed and not as exhausted lately. Three nights ago we had a rough night, up five or six times. Abby just wanted to play! The last two nights, Abby has been in bed at 8 and sleeping until 6!! She's doing great and really getting used to the idea of SLEEPING at night. I hope and pray it stays like this for a while. We'll see, I know it can all change in a blink of an eye. We know she's well rested when she wakes up smiling and LAUGHING at her Daddy!!
"Look at me!!" - Abby is practicing head control using the Bumbo seat... yay! :)

Playtime with Mommy!

Such a sweet baby ....

Abby just loves playtime with her Mommy! (Daddy too!) She is really starting to get a personality all of her own, with more and more smiles and coos. Right now, she still hasn't mastered holding her head completely on her own. I think she will have full head control in just a few weeks. We'll see! So ... Abby still spends a lot of her playtime laying on her back. She just loves laying on a blanket, looking everywhere, smiling and cooing at the crazy faces or sounds I make. I have come to realize that the crazier I act, the more smiles I get! We have been spending a lot of time on our tummy, getting that head and neck nice and strong. I also spend a lot of time reading and showing her books, which she LOVES. She just stares and smiles, kicking her legs and moving her arms the whole time. This is my favorite time with Abby!

Playtime with Mommy :)

This week, I have been working with Abby on napping in her crib. She is having a hard time with this because she is so used to being put in the swing for naptime. It's a bad habit, but yet so easy to just put her in the swing. She drifts off to dreamland in no time!! Yet, we know it's so important for her to be napping in her crib. She is doing well at night, so I'm not sure why she wants absolutely no part of it during the day. Ugh. Frustrating, but she'll get it.
Yesterday, Jim and I took Abby to our new doctor, Dr. Meyer. Abby had a rough morning, crying real tears and just couldn't seem to relax or get comfortable. I knew she didn't have a fever, but she was spitting up some phlegm, maybe from crying so much. Who knows - but everything is fine. She was all smiles with the doctor.. go figure! In fact, she is perfectly healthy, weighing in now at 11 pounds, 6 ounces. Wow!!!! I can tell that Dr. Meyer loves babies and he made sure to give her a kiss on her forehead before he left. :)

Say cheese!!! :)

Our little ladybug!

Hope everyone had a safe, fun, and happy Halloween! We had a great time celebrating Abby's first Halloween with friends. Jessi and Rico had us over to their home, along with the Piersoll and Brester family. The costumes were great ... Avery and Jadyn were Superman and Superwoman, Camdyn was Sleeping Beauty, Chloe (and Carol too!!) were fairies, and our little Abby was a ladybug. It was a great time pushing Abby in the stroller alongside Carol and Chloe and enjoying a drink at the same time! :) Fun times ....

Our little ladybug

Cute as a bug ....

Tummy shot ... Abby wasn't really up for this one!

And this is how Abby really felt about her costume ... it only lasted for about 30 minutes! :(
